-------------------------------------

3 Months after the successful launch of operation K.U.R.F.U.S.T. (Kryptic Unkown Reconnaissance For Unveiling Stolen Trades, named after the late officer Kurfust Amadeus Klendathu), the Griffon City Police Department has eliminated all traces of crime caused by the syndicate known as “Dark-Rapture”. The operation, carried out by Commander Cody Eleas and Lieutenant Dora Klendathu, allowed for the capture of the head of the syndicate: Barnsell Hawthorne. It put an end to the corruption that was stitched into the workings of Griffon city, as without a leader, the members of the syndicate were able to be easily picked off. The days seemed to go by peacefully, with only little thefts here and there, but that was about to change soon, and it begins with Dora reporting to Cody on the events of the current day.

“Sir, another small robbery took place at the bakery in division 12, though the thief didn’t get far as I and a couple other officers were near that vicinity. We recovered what little he stole and returned it to the owner.”
“Good job Lieutenant! Man, it seems like no matter what, crime never truly disappears. At least it’s not as bad as it was before.” He then proceeds to finish off the coffee that he currently was drinking out of his most prized possession, the cup his wife gave him.
“Yes sir! Though if crime disappeared, we’d be out of a job” says Dora as she giggles and boots up the computer sitting at her desk.
“Time for paperwork huh? Oh joy” says Cody as he tries to suppress a giggle himself, but for different reasons.
“Of course, once this computer loa… Oh you didn’t do what I think you did”.
Cody couldn’t help but laugh a little when Dora found out that he turned the wallpaper on the computer screen to the photo pinup that Dora took a while back ago.
“I can’t believe you did that! I’m still annoyed they didn’t let me ride that motorcycle!” she exclaimed.
“Well I’m glad they didn’t, the rear looked a bit big”, snickered Cody, which at that, Dora’s temper activated.
“What do you mean my rear is big!”
“Calm down”, said Cody, “I only meant the rear of the bike all right?”
“Oh well that’s good then… So how’s the wife and kids Sgt. Spots?”
He chuckles, “Come on now lieutenant, you know that I’m the commander now, but they are doing well. The ki...” He is interrupted by the phone, which he proceeds to answer. After a short conversation, he hangs up with a grimmer look on his face. “Apparently there’s been a death over at division 17, we should head out there now.” he says as Dora follows behind.
“A death? Gosh we haven’t had one of those in quite some time…” she says in a melancholy tone.
“Still thinking about him?” Cody asks.
“Yeah… but let’s go, we can’t dwell on the past”.

They soon reach a police car and headed out to where the death occurred. Shortly after reaching the area located in division 17, they parked the car near what seemed to be an abandoned house. Their main target of focus however, was the alleyway, so they headed into the dank alleyway and found the corpse of a male near a dumpster. The walls were quite disgusting, just covered in unneeded graffiti and markings from various bodily fluids. Upon closer examination of the corpse, the victim’s body seemed to have been beaten quite considerably, and there was blood located on the wall near him.

“I still can’t believe someone would do such a thing…” said Cody as he looked at the body and the area.
Dora got closer to the body, only to find that behind a bloody piece of torn clothing was the victims tongue nailed into their sternum. Upon realizing this, she jumped back a little. “No it can’t be!”
“What is it lieutenant?”, asked Cody as he was picking up what seemed to be a note from underneath an elevated side of the dumpster near where the victims hand lay.
“Sir, this is the same treatment that members of the syndicate used on traitors!” The look in her eyes showing both fear and anger.
Cody eyes open up and he takes a step backwards before composing himself. “We must be dealing with some stragglers once again.” Afterwards, he starts unfolding the note that he found underneath the dumpster. “Hopefully this is important… let’s see… ‘B.H. P3 H2’…” After pondering what the note would seem to mean, Cody gives up on it. “I’m just not sure what this could be…”.
“Let me see that”, says Dora as she snatches it from his grasp. After a few moments of looking and contemplating, she speaks out her idea. “Although I’m not sure as to what the latter part of the note means, B.H. has to stand for Barnsell Hawthorne! It has to!”.
“Calm down Dora, for now we need to get the coroner and head back to the office in order to discuss our next plan of action.”

Dora sighs, but agrees as Cody calls up the coroner. The coroner arrives within the next hour, and the two depart in order to discuss their plans. Although they are back in a familiar setting such as the office, they both exude and aura of unease as they try to understand what the rest of the note means and what to do. The ideas go back and forth until...

“Ok Cody, we have to do something!”
“Yes I know, but…” Suddenly they are interrupted by a familiar call.
“Hey ya’ll!” yelled out an excited mare.
“Giselle!” exclaimed out both Dora and Cody, and in which Dora continued, “How have you been girl? How was your vacation?”
“Aw it was plum fantastic! I ate as many apples as I could handle! Shucks I almost didn’t want to come back. Of course I had too but that don’t stop me getting back in the swing of things. So what ya’ll need me to do? What I miss?”
Dora and Cody smiles turn into frowns as one explains the situation to Giselle, which in turns lowers her happy mood.
“Oh my stars… a death? And the syndicate again? Ain’t that just heavy news…?” She says as she looks over at the note on the desk. “P3 H2, is that pier 3 hanger 2?”
Cody and Dora look at each other for a moment before asking how she got that from the note.
“Well there’s a mighty fine apple stand near that there area, and the vendor taught me a few things about the pier. Such as how they use “P” and “H” for pier and hanger.”
“Thank you Giselle, now if you could help us by going to the jail which houses Barnsell Hawthorne and make sure he’s there. Call back once you can all right?”
“No problem partner, you and Dora go check out the pier.”

With that, Giselle disappears and as Dora and Cody look at each other, they nod in agreement and set out towards the pier. As nightfall approaches, the two reach the pier in question and wait for Giselle’s call before heading out to the hanger. It wasn’t a long wait, as Giselle called them back as ordered, however the news was not good, but it was what Dora was expecting. Apparently Barnsell was not where he was supposed to be, so the two figured that the note left by that poor victim was saying that he was located at that specific harbor. The two exited the vehicle and headed towards Hanger 2, with their guns drawn. Upon entering the hanger, it seemed to be empty, but that changed when bright white lights turned on. The two immediately took cover behind a freight container, only to be greeted by a familiar voice.

“Well well well, looks as though spotty and his lackey figured out where we were. It took you long enough to figure out that note.”
“Barnsell! How did you escape!? What do you mean!?” yelled Cody, to which Barnsell replied.
“Oh we put that note there, in order to lure you out here. You see, you may have cleaned up Griffon city, but if you both were to go, I’d be able to make a comeback and seize control once again. As for my escape, let’s just say I had a contingency plan if I were to be captured.”
“YOUR DEAD BARNSWELL” cried Dora.
“We’ll see about that! You’re gonna end up just like your brother!” Barnswell laughed loudly and ordered the few subordinates he had left to go and kill the two cops.

Gunfire erupted in the hanger from the ground floor and the scaffolding. The two cops separated and shot back at their assailants. The sound of bullets ricocheting off metal echoes through the area but dwindles as Cody and Dora pick off the shooters slowly. Whenever one seemed to get pinned down by gunfire, the other was able to get rid of the person keeping them down. Every now and again, they would see each other amidst the gunfire, but only because one of them needed to save the other by running at them and tackling them down so that they wouldn’t get shot by someone in their blind spot. Regardless of where the shots came from however, through teamwork, the two cops were able to get rid of all of their enemies, or so it would seem.

“Dora are you all right?” pants Cody, exhausted at this firefight.
“I’m fine! I think that should have been the last of his cronies.” replies Dora as they meet up and start heading to where Barnsell was going to be.
However, as Cody starts to pass the opening of a corridor in between two freight containers, he notices one of the damaged assailants holding a grenade halfway down. His eyes widen, and as Dora approaches from behind, he pushes her back as fast as he could, seconds before the grenade goes off. The force of the blast knocks Cody backwards onto the ground. Since Dora was pushed behind the freight, the surrounding walls absorbed the explosive shockwave, leaving undamaged. She gets up off the ground and rushes to Cody’s limp body, turning him right side up and holding him onto shoulders.

“Cody! Are you ok! Say something!”
No response, the Dalmatian just lays there, motionless. Dora starts to shed tears, fearing the worst.
“C’mon Sgt. Spots! You can’t give up on me now! Get up!” she yells while shaking him. “Wait what am I doing, I should check his pulse” which she does so promptly. Luckily enough, his heart was still beating, although it was very faint, yet it gave Dora some comfort.
She whispers, “Oh thank good...” *bang*

A shot was fired, and Dora screams as she is knocked backwards by the force of the shot. She clenches her arm which was now bleeding and tries to stand up. Another shot, this time in her leg. The agony left her unable to move, as her grunts of pain continued even stronger. Her gaze falls upon the one responsible for all this, in which her anger grows regardless of the pain she is in.

“Barnsell you bastard!”, she shouted
“Didn’t I tell you that you’d end up like your brother, maybe not killed the same way, but you’re still gonna end up dead . Now that I’ve gotten rid of this spotty nuisance, all that’s left is you” he exclaims as he points the gun to her head.”
“Dark-Rapture was never killed off; it never will be killed off! It’ll just rise again!” He laughs as Dora closes her eyes, awaiting her final moment… A shot was fired… then silence…

…….
………..

Dora opens her eyes only to find a now dead Barnsell in front of her. She was taken aback and unable to speak, only able to hear the sound of ambulances drawing near. The sound fades as does her sight as she falls unconscious shortly after.

When she wakes up, she’s in a hospital with Giselle sitting by her side.
“Giselle! What happened? Where am I? Where’s Cody!?” she screamed
“Darlin’ calm down! Everything is all right ya hear? I’ll explain everything.”

Dora calmed down as Giselle started to explain how she came to be in the hospital, how Barnsell escaped, what happened to the bodies, and how she was on her way to the location after being tipped off by an unknown caller.

“… and that’s how I found ya dear.”
“So Cody’s all right? That’s great to hear” says Dora with a relieved sigh as she falls back into her hospital bed. “Still, if you didn’t shoot Barnswell, who did?”
“That’s the thing sugar, we don’t know, there was a note next to your body though, I read it and it’s with them forensic guys right now.”
“What did it say Giselle?”
“Well, it was mighty peculiar, but it was more of a command then a note, they told me to do this to ya.” Giselle leans in and honks Dora’s nose. “Honkity Honk, that’s what it said to say, said you would get it.”
Dora’s eyes widen a bit in surprise as a smile stretches across her face, but before she could ask anymore, the nurse came in to the remind Giselle that Dora needed more rest.

“All right fine, be that way, I’ll see ya later Darlin’, you gonna be good now?”
“Yes Giselle” she says as she looks out the window smiling towards a bright day with a tear running down her face, “I think everything is going to be fine, and I know exactly what I’m going to do when I get out of here.”
“Gotcha, you heal up fast ya hear?” says Giselle as she leaves the room.

Dora watches her friend go, and then closes her eyes. “When I find you, I’m going to honk your nose so hard”. She smiles, before falling into a calm sleep, waiting for the bright future ahead.

End.
